There’s a stack of devotionals on your shelf. Most of them have a bookmark somewhere in January.
You bought a reading plan app. The little streak flame went gray forty-seven days ago.
You love Jesus. You want to be in His Word. But your brain has fifteen tabs open, the calendar makes you feel behind before you’ve started, and “just be more disciplined” has never worked.
You’re not lazy, friend. You might just need a different approach for your brain.

For a long time, I didn’t realize so much of what I struggled with, as a child and as an adult, was likely my own neurodivergent brain at work.
I needed something that would help me build healthy Bible-reading habits. But I also needed grace. The kind of grace that says "You're still loved, forgiven, and adored," no matter what your habits, or lack-thereof, look like.
And yes, I still find it difficult to read His Word faithfully or even with all that much enthusiasm. But, I do need it. Daily.
Why?
He promises that He is "the way, the truth, and the life." And through His Word He brings those very things.
That’s why I wrote Jenny’s story: for every woman who needs both a reminder that they are loved by a gracious God and who struggles putting into place and practicing healthy routines.
Lesson learned: the habit matters, but grace comes first. You’re already loved, friend. Open your Bible and sit with me. Let's meet Jenny.
Sarah
Jenny Camellia is thirty-eight, lives in the suburbs of Des Moines, and has three kids, a tired husband, and forty-two boxes of heirloom seed kits nobody is buying.
She also has a credit card her husband doesn’t know about, and a business coach on social media promising that life gets easy once you stop making it so hard.
Over ninety days, from one Iowa fall to the next, Jenny tries to buy, build, copy, and plan her way into paradise. And slowly, through church basements, gravel roads, and a few very unlikely friends, she finds out it that Paradise was never for sale.
She isn’t a real person. But she could easily be you.

About five minutes. One short passage of Scripture, one chapter of Jenny’s story, and one honest question. Nothing to journal. Nothing to record.
Scripture first. Every day opens your Bible before it opens the story, with a link to read the passage online.
No dates, no streaks, no guilt. Day 12 is just Day 12, whenever you get there. The story waits for you.
Just the Bread. On hard days, read the verse in the box and stop. That counts.
A rest day at the end of every week, with a quick recap so you can jump back in after a break.

Find My Spot: one tap takes you back to the day you left off.
“Last time” reminders: one sentence at the top of every day, so you never have to reread.
Who’s Who: a quick card for every person in Jenny’s world.
A race tracker: a little runner on a gravel road, one marker closer at the end of every part.
A 90-seed sheet: color one seed after each reading, in any order. Skipped days don’t leave holes.
Twelve pocket verse cards: print them, screenshot them, or tape one to the dashboard.

Questions? We’re happy to help.
You’ve started more devotionals than you’ve finished
You have ADHD, think you might, or just have a very full life
You want to be in God’s Word every day, without the calendar guilt
You love a good story
This probably isn’t for you if you’re looking for a verse-by-verse Bible study or a workbook with blanks to fill in. And finishing it won’t earn you anything with God. Jesus already did that. This book just keeps pointing you back to His Word, so you can delight in Him and all that He has to say.
Jenny’s story is honest. It walks through debt, envy, body image, the death of a dear friend, and an early pregnancy loss. Those parts are handled with care, and every one of them ends in hope. But if one of those is tender for you right now, I want you to know these things before you start.
No. Start any day of the year. Jenny’s story moves through the seasons, but your reading doesn’t have to match them.
Then you miss days. There are no dates in this book. Tap Find My Spot, and you’re back.
Every verse is quoted from the King James Version. If you’d rather read in the ESV, NIV, or another translation, open your own Bible to the same passage. The daily links let you switch translations with one tap.
You’ll get simple step-by-step instructions in your download email. It takes about two minutes.
It’s a story devotional. Each day has a real passage of Scripture, a chapter of fiction, and one question. It’s designed to get you into your Bible every day, not to replace it.
Yes. The print PDF uses black ink only, so it’s kind to your printer.
Because this is a digital download, sales are final. But if a link is broken, a file won’t open, you get the wrong file, or you bought it twice by accident, email us within 14 days and we’ll make it right. You can read our full Refund Policy.
You don’t need another Day 1, friend.
You need a story that walks you back to God’s Word, one five-minute morning at a time.
Instant download, with easy steps for Kindle and Apple Books.
